When People Magazine named John Krasinski as their 2024 Sexiest Man Alive, Iris and I knew we had to bring that fun debate to El Paso. Why should Hollywood have all the say in who’s the "sexiest"? We decided El Paso deserves its very own Sexiest Man Alive! With some lively back-and-forth, we came up with our own picks, and let’s just say Iris and I didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye (which made it a lot more interesting). But after some debate, we landed on some seriously impressive local nominees.

The Guidelines

We didn’t pick our nominees just on looks alone—this is El Paso! We wanted men who are unique, engaged in the community, alive (no history book legends here), and, of course, totally owning who they are. Here’s what we were looking for:

  1. Cool – Are they unique people following their passions and looking great doing it?
  2. Community – These nominees are active right here in El Paso, making an impact.
  3. Alive – Just to keep things simple, these nominees are currently living in El Paso.
  4. Attractive – And yes, they’ve got to bring their own brand of attractive confidence.

With those guidelines in mind, we got to nominating. Here are our picks:

Iris' Picks for El Paso’s Sexiest Man Alive 2024

  • County Judge Ricardo A. Samaniego
Iris Says: "I nominate Judge Samaniego for his deep passion for our city and his commitment to making it a better place. He’s dedicated to community service, and he’s known for being kind, well-spoken, and even having a great sense of humor."

        • Doppler Dave Speelman, KVIA Chief Meteorologist Iris Says: "Growing up, I always watched Doppler and thought he was such an interesting and knowledgeable person. After working with him, he proved just how smart he really is—and he's surprisingly funny, too! He also gives back to the community, has strong family values, and is truly an El Paso legend."

Grizz’s Picks for El Paso’s Sexiest Man Alive 2024

  • Christian Churches, Professional Photographer
Grizz Says: "Christian’s photography has put El Paso on the map in a whole new way, capturing the beauty of our city and its people with his unique style. He's cool, creative, and his smile is as warm as the sunsets he captures in his photos of the Sun City."

    • Robert Holguin, Journalist and Filmmaker Grizz Says: "Robert Holguin’s an award winning journalist with a solid style and a plethora of hobbies that make him pretty cool. But what puts him on my list is his dedication to film and the film community here in El Paso. Plus, look at that smile. News Anchors just know how to make it glow!"

If you live in El Paso, you know who I’m talking about. There’s no way to ignore the joy and charm of Dancin’ Bobby from Charlie Clark Nissan! This man practically radiates El Paso pride, dancing and showing off his moves. Dancin' Bobby was an easy pick for both of us. He’s got the cool, the community love, and he makes the Charlie Clark Nissan uniform look like casual fashion.

So, El Paso, who do you think deserves the title? Let us know, and maybe we’ll announce the winner on Iris & Grizz in the Morning!
