The re-testing of students and staff for Tuberculosis is scheduled for this coming Monday, Aug. 10, 2015.

The City of El Paso Department of Public Health will begin re-testing both students and staff at Frank Macias Elementary. The re-testing is a standard procedure and is conducted eight to ten weeks after the last possible exposure to someone with an active case of TB.

Parents of any child who attends the school will also be offering a TB information session which will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at the school at 14521 Horizon Boulevard in Horizon City.

The following is the most recent information regarding the ongoing TB investigation at Frank Macias Elementary:

Cohort #1 Investigation

  • Tested To Date: 159 Students & 8 Staff
  • Results To Date: 129 Negative & 38 Positive & 2 active including index and 4 pending tests
  • Positivity Rate:  38/167 = 22.8 %

Cohort #2 Investigation

  • Tested To Date: 16 Students & 98 Staff
  • Results To Date: 95 Negative & 4 pending tests
  • Positivity Rate: 19/114 = 16.68 %

The following information is related to the halfway house investigation:

Cohort #1 Investigation

  • Tested To Date: 156 Students & 38 Staff
  • Results To Date: 169 Negative & 25 Positive & 0 pending tests
  • Positivity Rate: 25/194 = 12.9 %

There are still 18 residents/former residents who still need to be tested.
