California is going through an epic drought that is threatening to dry up the whole state. Residents there will now have to reduce their water usage by 25%. So far, the dry conditions in El Paso haven't forced those kind of water restrictions, but that could change if we aren't careful with our water supply.

To that end, EPWU has announced their annual time-of-day watering changes. Beginning this month, and lasting through the end of September, you can only water before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. on designated days. You can't water at all on Mondays. If your home address is even-numbered, you can only water on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays. Odd-numbered addresses can only water on Wednesdays, Fridays or Sundays.

If you get caught watering on days or during hours you shouldn't be, you could get a ticket with a fine up to $500. If you see someone wasting water, you can call EPWU at 594-5500, or report the violation on their website under the “Conservation” tab.
