If you are planning on hitting up New Year’s Eve parties this weekend, you need to know that the El Paso Police Department will be out and about as well.

Officers with the DWI Task Force will be conducting a DWI surge on New Year's Eve to try and keep drunk drivers off the road. Officers from each Regional Command will be helping the DWI Task Force in identifying and arresting drivers who may be under the influence on El Paso roadways.

The surge begins on Saturday, December 31st.

If you do plan on partying in the New Year, get a designated driver in place before you go out, call a cab or Uber if you don’t have a designated driver, or you can call Sun City Cab at 212-7777 for a free ride home from a bar.

If you are planning on kicking off the New Year’s Eve festivities at the Sun Bowl on Friday, you can get a $20 discount from Uber.
