From well-known destinations, like San Jacinto Plaza, to a couple of places that might not be on your radar, El Paso offers lovers of all-things Christmas numerous dazzling light displays around town to provide some of that Christmas magic.
There’s just something about the colorful, festive, twinkling lights that lift our spirits — something many of us need right now with the pandemic still very much a part of our daily lives.
So, pack up some hot chocolate and sweet treats, pile the kids into the family vehicle, and brighten your night with Christmas lights.
Sun City Lights
El Paso's new holiday experience: a family-friendly drive-through featuring tens of thousands of lights, and holiday-inspired displays viewed from the comfort of your car. [More Info]
The Lights of Eastridge
El Paso's original drive-through Christmas lights show. Many of the neighborhood residents adorn their homes and yards in lights and holiday displays, and the subdivision’s layout lends itself to the drive-through presentation. Lights go on at sundown. [Info + Map]
Rae of Light Christmas Light Show
If you miss the Fred Loya Christmas light show, this homeowner wants you to swing by his place in east El Paso. The impressive synchronized light show takes residential house projections to the next festive level. [More Info]
The Twinkling Trees of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center
From I-10 exit Reynolds and go south to Alameda Ave. Turn left on Alameda, left on El Paso Dr., and left in the first entrance to campus. Park in the main parking lot, next to the lawn.
Lights on the Lake
El Paso County lights up Ascarate Park with colorful lights and displays. The lights along the lake are lit nightly through early January from sundown to 10 p.m. You can either stay in your car and drive through or park and pose for pics among the displays. Entry into the park is free during the week and $2 on Saturdays and Sundays.
Vado Speedway Park Christmas Village
From holiday lights and inflatable displays to Christmas music, s’mores by the campfire and Santa Claus himself, there’s something for every Christmas junkie at Vado Speedway Park. [More Info]
Downtown
San Jacinto Plaza, the Arts Festival Plaza, and Paseo de Las Luces lights up nightly through Jan. 4 as part of Winterfest, and offers many photo opportunities and activities.
El Paso International Airport
The city has also decked out the trees and lawn areas along the road that leads to and from the El Paso International Airport. Tens of thousands of lights decorate trees, and 9-foot tall displays in the shapes of gift boxes, ornaments and stars like the ones in San Jacinto Plaze have been placed along Terminal Drive.
