Who Says There’s No Such Thing As A Free Lunch?
Turns out there is, and it will help keep a lot of El Paso kids from going hungry during the summer.
In the US, 1 in 4 kids doesn't have enough to eat. I don't know about you, but I know more than 4 kids, so that statistic is the scariest thing I've ever heard. Can you imagine knowing your child is going to sleep hungry, waking up hungry, going to school hungry?
Luckily, there the school districts in the El Paso area have an answer for that. The Free Meal Program will help kids in the El Paso area get nutritious breakfasts and/or lunches all summer long. The districts taking part in the program are the El Paso, Ysleta, Socorro, and Canutillo school districts. I don't know how much money is spent on this program, but I don't really care how much it is. If a child is hungry, you feed him no matter what. This is taxpayer money well spent.
If you need to know the schedule for the Free Meal Program, the details can be found here.
