The ground on a piece of land on the corner of McCobms and Rick Husband Drive in the northeast has been leveled and parking lot lighting has been installed, but the construction of a new shopping center hasn’t begun.

That hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from working overtime as to what retailers will be moving in, however.

Northeast residents say they have heard that Target might be moving into the new shopping center, and that has a lot of people very happy. There are signs posted along the sidewalk of the new development that say Carl's Jr. and Taco Bell are coming soon, but there isn’t a sign for Target.

That's because Target isn't opening a new store there.

Target’s spokeswoman said there are no plans to put a store in the new shopping center, and when some residents in a different northeast shopping center were told that, they were visably disappointed.
One shopper even told ABC 7 that they jinxed it by asking Target if they were headed to northeast El Paso.

Property owner MIMCO Inc. says it doesn't have a date for the groundbreaking on the new shopping center saying that they are still working on securing an anchor store the location.
