Tacotote to Open Restaurant in Eastlake This Year
Residents who live or work in the Eastlake/Horizon City area will soon have a locally owned restaurant in which to celebrate future Taco Tuesdays.
Tacotote, known for its variety of made from scratch tacos, tortillas and salsas, has begun construction of its seventh and newest El Paso-area location on Eastlake Boulevard.
About Tactotote
El Taco Tote was born in Ciudad Juarez in the late 80s and expanded into El Paso in 1996 with its first location on N. Mesa near the University of Texas at El Paso.
(That location closed permanently in 2020 after 24 years. I heard it had to do with the lease being up.)
As its popularity grew, so did the number of restaurants. Now going by Tacotote, it currently has six locations in town as well as restaurants in San Antonio and Laredo Texas, Phoenix and Tucson Arizona, Albuquerque New Mexico, and in Mexico including Juarez.
Where on Eastlake and When Will It Open?
The restaurant will be going up at 12221 Eastlake in the Eastlake Commons open-air retail mall. Eastlake Commons is across the street from Eastlake Marketplace and near the Amazon Fulfillment Center.
The family-run business filed documents with the state January 2022 for what was described in the paperwork as a “new ground up TacoTote location with drive-thru,” but only recently began moving dirt on the planned two-million-dollar project.
They have not set an opening date yet, but hope to be grilling and making salsa by the end of the year.
