As kids head back-to-school parents are being warned of crayons containing traces of asbestos.

Parents who are shopping for back-to-school supplies should avoid purchasing several items including Playskool crayons at their local retailers because they apparently have been found to contain traces of asbestos according to the U.S. PIRG.

The U.S. PIRG released the following statement:

"After testing dozens of school supplies including markers, crayons, dry erase markers, glue, 3-ring binders, spiral notebooks, lunchboxes and water bottles, we found several supplies containing asbestos, lead, benzene or other dangerous chemicals. Check out our “Safer School Supplies Shopping Guide” to see the toxic products we found, and suggestions for safer alternatives."

Parents, I was able to find the Playskool crayons available for purchase via Walmart online with no problem, so it seems that they still haven't been pulled but i suggest you avoid these crayons and any of the items mentioned above, just to be on the safe side.
