As we all get better with age, many of us notice that the pesky "11" between our eyebrows, the wrinkles on our forehead and our crows feet get deeper and more pronounced. After researching and learning more about Botox, I decided to undergo a treatment in all three areas with Dr. Mark Jabor at Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Centers of El Paso.

Of course, we took some footage so you could see the whole experience:

The injections themselves felt like a little pinch — that was it! The whole procedure lasted about 10 minutes and the only immediate visible change was a pinhead sized bruise at the injection site. (Totally normal. Dr. Jabor says some people experience mild swelling and redness or minor bruising at the injection site.) The results were not immediate but I could feel a difference in my overall expression.

Botox is "a natural protein which in very low doses relaxes the overactive muscles that cause frown lines to form," according to the Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Centers of El Paso website. It typically lasts about four months, after which the areas return to the appearance they had before Botox. The Botox generally stays "only in the treated muscle and gradually disappears without breaking down or traveling throughout the body," according to Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Centers of El Paso.

About two weeks after my treatment, I can say both my forehead lines and the frown lines between my eyes have noticeably lessened. I'm pleased with the results because while I notice the improvement, it's not a drastic change that makes it look like I had "some work done."

I'd suggest that my girlfriends (and guy-friends!) get Botox treatments, either alone or with other treatments at the Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Centers of El Paso. Everyone deserves to look and feel their best!
