Magic! this Sunday at ‘Music Under the Stars’
The first half of Music under the Stars will come to a close this Sunday (6/25) at Cohen Stadium with a free concert by that "Rude" band, Magic!
The Canadian pop-reggae band is best known for that catchy song that, at the peak of its popularity a couple of years ago, you couldn’t turn on the radio or go anywhere without hearing.
The chorus ear wormed its way so deep into my brain that summer I would often go to sleep with "Why you gotta be so rude? Don't you know I'm human too?" rolling around my brain while picturing Stephanie Tanner uttering her catchphrase on Full House. Don't judge, it was a dark period in my life.
While they may go down in music history as a one-hit wonder, Magic! is not necessarily a one-trick pony. Yes, the group's music is often accented by laid back reggae rhythms, but they can also go deep into other genres such as pop, rock, and soul.
Calling them just a reggae band would be, well, rude.
