2018 Music Under the Stars Schedule + Band Lineup Set

The dates and band line-up for the 2018 season of Music Under the Stars is out.

The 35th season of one of El Paso’s signature summer events will get underway June 3 and conclude on July 22. Like last season, this year's music mix includes some local bands, a tribute act, and a couple of up-and-coming national recording acts.

Former Las Cruces police officer Frank Gomez, who goes by his stage name Frank Ray and was named one of "10 New Country Artists You Need to Know" by Rolling Stone Magazine, and the internationally known L.A. based indie band Chicano Batman are joined on the schedule by El Paso's Fixed Idea, Kikimora, and Sangre Gitana, as well as Queen tribute band Queen Nation.

Like last year, this season of MUTS will be split evenly between Cohen Stadium and the Chamizal National Memorial, only this year they're flipping the script. The first four concerts will take place at the Chamizal and all of July’s performances — including the 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular — at Cohen Stadium.

The other significant change is the placement of the popular Noche Ranchera. Traditionally the last concert of the season, this year it will close out the Chamizal portion of Music Under the Stars at the end of June, and will feature Mariachi Flor de Toloache, an all-woman Mariachi band from New York City.

Queen tribute band, Queen Nation, will close out the season at the old soon-to-be-demolished baseball stadium on July 22 with a hits-filled live production of what they describe as "the image, sound, and stage persona of vintage Queen."

Music Under the Stars has been a Sunday evening favorite for area families who want to end their weekend with a chill night of picnics, music, and dancing for over 30 years.

All concerts are on Sundays from 7:30-9:30 p.m., with the exception of the July 4 concert and firework spectacular, which will be on a Wednesday and start a half hour earlier to accommodate the fireworks show.
