Actor Liam Neeson used to play all kinds of characters but about a decade ago, Hollywood decided he should only play trained killers.

He USED to play everything from a Nazi businessman to a famous sexologist but since 2008 he’s basically played 20 different versions of Brian Mills from the Taken franchise.  Specifically, a retired elite killer who has to use the skills of his former profession against kidnappers/the mafia/drug cartel either to rescue a family member or to get revenge for the death of a family member.

In “Memory”, out April 29th, he gets to stretch his chops: he’s a killing machine who ALSO has Alzheimer’s disease.

I’m just trying to figure out what a professional assassin with an Irish accent and Alzheimer’s would even sound like…

“I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. I’m not really sure who I am. Are you my grandson? What I have are a very particular set of skills; none of which I can recall at the moment.”

The movie is set in El Paso but it sounds like, other than a couple of establishing shots, it was actually filmed in Bulgaria.  Let’s get back to this “killer with an age-related affliction” premise! I think this might really be Liam Neeson’s niche going forward.
