In the 12 years "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" has been on the Food Network, superstar host Guy Fieri has never featured an El Paso-area restaurant or chef -- but it appears that might be about to change.

The frosted-tip "Mayor of Flavortown" has been photographed at several eating spots around town in the last couple of days, but neither he nor the Food Network have given any indication why.

All the restaurants he’s paid a visit to indicated they could not comment on why Fieri was at their establishment.

That likely means he either is or already did film there for a segment on "Triple D," or at the very least he's personally vetting their menu for possible inclusion.

Kaedama, known for its Ramen noodle dishes, Lick it Up, a downtown food truck renown for its “vegan” Mexican street food, the critically-acclaimed ‘cue restaurant on N. Zaragosa, Desert Oak Barbeque, and Delight downtown are the restaurants known to have played host to the flamed-shirt wearing food guru's taste buds and film crew.

They all may or may not make the final cut but it's good to know Guy has finally taken notice of the burgeoning El Paso food scene.

Over the years the new-school chefs have expanded our city's cuisine options (and waistlines!) and redefined the food landscape. El Paso isn't just Mexican food anymore.
