During the summer months, your Texas Gas Service bill is usually pretty manageable, but in a few weeks, it will get a little hotter to handle and not because the weather will be getting colder, it's because El Paso City Council and Texas Gas Service are working on a rate increase. The vote on the increase was supposed to happen yesterday, but Council tabled it until next week.

There are two different ways Council could go:

1. A 20% increase on your minimum monthly charge of $14.22 to $17.18.
2. A 24% increase from $14.22 to $17.70 a month.

Texas Gas Service says they want the rate increase because of recent improvements to its infrastructure. The increase is coming, it's just a matter of which option Council will choose.
