Today from 1 to 2 p.m., Chico the Chihuahua will make his final Paws for Presents appearance and help collect toys for El Paso’s less fortunate children.

Chico and Station 6 firefighters will collect as many toys as possible to benefit the Child Crisis Center El Paso this Christmas.

The public is encouraged to bring unwrapped, new toys for children 13 or younger. In exchange for a toy, people will enjoy a photo opportunity with Chico the Chihuahua and a coupon for a free smoke alarm from the El Paso Fire Department.

The Child Crisis Center of El Paso protects children from abuse and neglect by providing shelter, advocacy and family support services.

Last year, the center was able to provide 740 gifts to children in the El Paso Community.
