Texas Teen Sells Hot Cocoa For Charity
Jarvis McCully is brewing more than just hot cocoa in East El Paso—he’s stirring up kindness, one cup at a time. For five years, this local teen has turned his front yard into a cozy hotspot for charity, proving that generosity can be served piping hot.
McCully’s cocoa stand isn’t your average roadside operation. It’s a heartfelt mission to help El Paso’s furry friends and families in need. Proceeds from his stand have supported organizations like El Paso Animal Services, Kelly Food Bank, and “A Home 2 Bark & Purr.” Last year, he shattered his personal record, raising nearly $600—enough to make Scrooge shed a tear.
When asked about his motivation, McCully kept it simple: “If you’re going to do anything, try to help people.” Wise words from a young man who’s already making a bigger impact than most adults.
It’s not just the money that makes this project special—it’s the ripple effect McCully creates. His stand has inspired neighbors and friends to pitch in or start their own charitable efforts. “I’m happy to be a role model,” McCully said. “If other people decide to do something nice, that’s amazing.”
Armed with marshmallows, a thermos, and a heart of gold, McCully typically spends three to five days selling cocoa each season. His efforts have not only warmed bellies but also sparked a sense of community. Tis the season for community and cocoa after all!
So, if you’re in East El Paso craving cocoa, stop by. You’ll leave with a warm drink—and a warmer heart.
