Top 5 Holiday Traditions Texans Want to Cancel!
Would You Ditch Gift-Giving? These Christmas Traditions Are on the Chopping Block, According to a Poll.
Traditions, a thing we love until we don’t! (I’m looking at you “Elf on a Shelf!”) There’s a new poll of 2,000 Americans that has sparked holiday controversy because it’s revealing which beloved Christmas traditions people would actually ditch. *Gasps in Spanish*
Shockingly, gift-giving landed in the top five. Yes, you read that right—GIFT-GIVING. (Honestly, I agree, only because I am the WORST gift giver ever because I gift people things I think they want... but they really don’t.)
Here’s the list of holiday traditions people say they’d be okay with scrapping:
- Sending Christmas cards.
- Ugly Christmas sweaters.
- Gift-giving.
- Secret Santa gift exchanges.
- Christmas music.
Apparently, other iconic traditions like watching Christmas movies, decorating the tree, and even putting up lights made the top 10. Serious question: Are we just canceling Christmas altogether? What a bunch of Grinches!!
But wait, it gets weirder. The poll also asked people to rank new “traditions” they’d replace the old ones with.
The top five might surprise you:
- Spend the whole day in pajamas.
- Focus on quality time instead of gifts or decorations.
- Take a vacation.
- Have a themed Christmas (think “Tropical Christmas” or “Pajama Christmas”).
- Go on a personal retreat—aka, a vacation without your family.
Other ideas included volunteering, making only DIY gifts, or skipping family gatherings in favor of a “friends-only” Christmas.
What Are your thoughts? What holiday tradition are you fine getting rid of?!
