The ongoing construction of the TxDOT I-10 Collector Project will mean another Trafficmageddon this weekend.

El Paso Electric is going to be removing two transmission structures and installing new structures, as well as replacing existing wire between Sunland Park and Paisano.

To do that, they need to shut down I-10 on both sides.

The eastbound and westbound closure on I-10 will happen from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Sunday, March 6th, between Sunland Park Drive and Executive Center on the westside of town.

Additional closures include:

· Paisano Drive at Executive Blvd. and Sunland Park Drive and Paisano Drive
· Crockett Street between Sunland Park Drive and Paisano Drive

Here are the detours you will need to take if you are in that area:

· Eastbound: All traffic must exit Sunland Park Drive then turn left onto Sunland Park and turn right onto Mesa. Commuters can take Mesa to Downtown or turn right on Executive to I-10 eastbound ramp.
· Westbound: All traffic must exit Executive Center and make a right at Executive Center. Commuters can take Mesa to I-10 or turn left on Sunland Park to I-10 westbound ramp

This isn't the last time I-10 will need to be shut down. It will happen again during Phase II of this project. The date and details of upcoming closures will be released soon.
