El Paso Electric Gives Back Before It Takes Away
El Paso Electric is feeling generous, folks! That’s right—after months of, let’s just say, less-than-welcome price hikes and a constant battle over our electric bills, they’ve decided to throw us a few bucks.

How Much Are We Getting?
From April to June 2025, all El Paso Electric customers will see a credit on their bills. How much, you ask? Well, don’t go planning that luxury vacation just yet—your refund will be somewhere between $8.24 and $15.05 per month for three months. That’s right! A whole eight to fifteen bucks! You might even be able to buy a couple of tacos with that (but let’s not get too crazy, okay?).

Where Is This Money Coming From?
Now, before we start writing thank-you notes to El Paso Electric, let’s remember why we’re getting this refund. The company applied for an interim fuel refund with the Public Utility Commission of Texas, which basically means they’re giving back money that was collected for fuel costs. And before you get any wild ideas, no—EP Electric does not make a profit on fuel costs (or so they claim). This is just a little financial tidying-up. In New Mexico, they adjust fuel costs every month, but here in Texas, we get a whole production when it happens.
Don’t Forget the Bigger Picture
Oh, and let’s not forget that while they’re tossing us a handful of spare change, EP Electric is still pushing to raise rates. Because of course they are. So enjoy that temporary bill credit while it lasts, because if history has taught us anything, it’s that what EP Electric gives with one hand, it will absolutely try to take back with the other.

What Should You Do With Your Refund?
In the meantime, put that refund to good use—maybe put it toward your next electric bill, because we all know it’s not getting any cheaper.
