The County of El Paso is looking to "treecycle" this holiday season. County Commissioners say that buying trees to beautify area parks is too expensive and they can't budget that kind of money, so they are hoping that you will buy and donate a living Christmas tree this year.

The County has teamed up with local nurseries for the treecycle program, so if you buy a tree from a local participating nursery, you can let them know that you want your tree to be picked up after the holidays. Trees will be planted at County parks and any extra trees that can't be used immediately will be cared for at the County tree farm at Ascarate Park and used later.

Live, potted Christmas trees can last in your home for over a month if properly taken care of. If you want to donate your tree, you can go to the County website for more information.
