Ascarate Park Winter Trout Reel-In Fishing Tournament Happening This Weekend
The fish have arrived at Ascarate Park and it’s just in time for the park's Winter trout Reel-in tournament!
In a post shared to their Facebook page, the El Paso County Parks and Recreation Department shared that the Gold Trout was recently dropped into the lake early Tuesday morning.
The Winter Trout Reel-in Fishing Tournament will be held at Ascarate Park on Saturday, January 14th from 7 a.m. to noon.
There will be no fishing at Ascarate Park until Saturday at 7 a.m. due to this tournament.
This tournament is an adult fishing catch and release tournament. The first 100 participants will receive a goodie bag with a logo knit beanie and snacks.
First place will receive a trophy, and all tournament participants will be entered into a raffle for additional prizes.
If you would like to participate in this tournament you can do so by registering at the El Paso County Parks & Recreation Offices which are located inside Ascarate Park at 6900 Delta.
The deadline to register early is Friday, January 13th. Fishing participants are encouraged to register early for just $25. Late registration is $35, cash only, and fees will be collected the day of the event between 7 to 9 a.m.
There is a two-pole limit per angler, and kayaks/boats (trolling motors only) are welcome.
All anglers are required to have a fishing license issued by the State of Texas. Fishing licenses can be purchased at most sporting goods stores. Additional rules are available here.
There will be no parking fee for this event, shelter rentals are available for the day starting at $50, however, participants are encouraged to make shelter rentals in advance at the Parks & Recreation Admin office.
