Don Guevara Leaves KTSM, Going Back to Cali
You may have noticed Don Guevara hasn't been sharing co-anchor duties at KTSM, Newschannel 9 lately.
That's because he is no longer with the NBC outlet.
After nearly 20 years in the television news business – the last 3 in El Paso – Guevara decided to pack up his numerous colorful ties and head back to his hometown of Los Angeles, in part to be closer to his family, according to Elizabeth O’Hara, KTSM's News Director.
I'm told he has opted to leave the news broadcast business altogether and will be working as a Media Specialist for the U.S. Census Bureau.
His final broadcast was Friday, July 20.
Guevara took time at the end of the program to express gratitude to his co-workers past and present and thank viewers for the "giant hug" they gave him by welcoming him into their homes for the last several years. Seconds after the newscast ended and cut to a commercial, Don turned to the camera broadcasting on Facebook and exclaimed, “No tears, I did it!”
O'Hara confirmed longtime El Paso journalist and current morning news anchor Daniel Marin has been promoted to the main anchor position alongside Natassia Paloma.
Marin will no longer have to subsist on Ramen noodles and bologna sandwiches as the big chair presumably comes with at least one more zero on his paycheck. Yeah, you da man now, pimp.
