If you have never been to Hueco Tanks, or even if you have, head out there in February for these amazing events:

February 1st – 13th - Romance on the Rocks Photo Contest - Take a picture of you and your sweetheart at Hueco Tanks between February 1st and February 13th and post it to the Hueco Tanks Facebook page or on their Instagram with #HuecoTanks. The top pics will be posted on their Facebook page. You can vote for your favorite, and on Valentine's Day, the winning couple will get a special souvenir from the park!

February 4th - Women’s Only Hike - If you're not an outdoorsy gal, this event is for you. Female staff members will take you on a hike and talk about some of the common mistakes people make when first starting to hike. You'll be able to take advantage of the Tanks in the early morning light because the hike is at 9 a.m. There is limited space, so call (915) 849-6684 for a reservation.

February 18th - Birding Tour - Birders take note - Richarch Hermosillo, one of the leading amateur ornithologists in the El Paso area will take you on a tour of the Tanks so you can get some “lifers” off your list. Space is limited and the birding begins at 8 a.m. To reserve a spot, call (915) 849–6684.

February 23rd - Hueco Star Gazing - You haven't seen the stars at night until you seen them at Hueco Tanks. You can bring your own binoculars and telescopes, but they aren't required. The event is on a first come, first serve basis, so get there early. For more information, call (915) 849-6684.

February 25th - Buffalo Soldier Remembrance Day - February is Black History Month, and Hueco Tanks is commemorating Buffalo Soldiers. This all-day event will have activity booths for families that will show you what life was like for the Buffalo Soldiers. There will be all kinds of interactive events for the whole family, and a special presentation about Cathay Williams, a woman who disguised herself as a man in order to join the ranks of the Buffalo Soldiers! $9 for adults (ages 13+), and $2 for children (ages 5-12). No reservations required.

To get to the park, take Montana all the way into the Hueco Mountains then turn left on Ranch Road 2775 where the UFO building is. Follow the road until it ends at the park.
