El Paso is in the process of building a new downtown ballpark - perhaps you've heard about it?  A couple of weeks ago, we found out that some of the design elements for the ballpark might not be built because of a lack of money.  But that has all changed, thanks to group that owns the baseball team.

"Ownership group commits additional funds to build project at design specification to ensure optimal product for El Paso.

Details on commitment and pending City actions scheduled for June 18 to be presented at media briefing prior to agenda posting."
That is the exact wording of a press release from the City that I got as we were interviewing El Paso mayoral candidate, Steve Ortega.  I'm not sure what design specifications, or how much money will be spent by the MountainStar Group, but for everyone who said they should step up and spend some of their own money on the ballpark, there you have it.  They are.
We'll keep an eye on the meeting and bring you more details about this breaking story as they become available.
