City Rep. Eddie Holguin demanded yesterday that Paul Foster and Josh Hunt guarantee the 12 million dollars for their part of the ballpark build. He says he just wants to make sure that if MountainStar goes bankrupt that we wouldn't be stuck holding that bag. So I have a couple of questions for the venerable Mr. Holguin....

El Paso is in the process of building a new downtown ballpark - perhaps you've heard about it?  A couple of weeks ago, we found out that some of the design elements for the ballpark might not be built because of a lack of money.  But that has all changed, thanks to group that owns the baseball team.

Today is the day the whole city comes together to celebrate the official ground breaking of the Downtown Triple A Ballpark!  There will be banners flying, marching bands, kids and parents embracing our City officials who brought us....... yeah, ok, not everyone is happy.  I got it.  But it's happening, so here are the details.

MountainStar Sports announced yesterday that they purchased the San Diego Padres Triple A baseball team, the Tucson Padres.  Triple A ball will be played in El Paso starting in the 2014 season, so now we need to come up with a name.  Tell us what you think it should be...

Earlier this morning, I posted a blog about Triple A baseball coming to El Paso - City Council has voted to build a 50 million dollar ballpark to house a baseball team, and even thought there are a couple of legal challenges to that vote, we now know that WE HAVE A TRIPLE A BASEBALL TEAM!!!!

I was at El Paso City Council yesterday for most of the public comments, and even had a crack at the podium myself.  So, did I crack open the champagne last night?  Nope.  Not yet.  I'm still waiting on the Mayor to decide which way he is going to vote!

I'm all for the Downtown Ballpark.  I know, I'm telling you something you didn't already know.  I've not had any opinion for or against it.  HA!  I crack me up!

So much has been written about the Triple A baseball coming to El Paso.  Hopefully, this will quiet some of the ugliness surrounding baseball in the Sun City.

The arrival of Triple A baseball has kind of been like the arrival of a baby.  A lot of waiting for a while, then fast and furious action right at the end!
