Get your party pants pressed, dig out that novelty sombrero from deep inside the closet, and practice your grito because Alfresco! Fridays is kicking off its 17th season this Friday, May 3, with an epic Cinco de Mayo celebration.

The free outdoor party will get underway at 6 p.m. at the Convention Center Plaza downtown with music by Tribes.

Tribes is a hometown "Indie Rock Mariachi band" who describe their sound as "heavy drums with traditional mariachi instruments," and their songs as "rich [in] melody and harmony."

The weekly Friday night summer time gatherings are festive enough already, but throw in mariachi-type music and a pseudo drinking "holiday" and, well, you might have to start a new life elsewhere depending on what shows up on social media.

Tacos, nachos and cerveza, as well as non-Cinco type food and drinks will be available for purchase. Have fun partying like a Mexican rock star, and please remember to drink and ogle others responsibly.
