37 New COVID-19 Cases, Brings El Paso’s Total to 961

As El Pasoans prepare to adjust to a slow reopening of our area, we see another increase in COVID-19 cases. As of May 1st, The City of El Paso has reported 37 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 961 confirmed cases.

Unfortunately, Dr. Hector Ocaranza, City/County Health Authority had to announce 1 more COVID-19 related death. The total COVID-19 related deaths are now at 22.

El Pasoans are urged to still follow safety precautions as the city begins to reopen, along with the rest of the state of Texas. Have some common sense when going out and about El Paso.  In response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, our City and County officials are working on proposing amendments to the Local Emergency Directive, which will go into place on May 1st, 2020.
