Here We Go Again: Heavy Rain Returns to El Paso This Week

Just when El Paso had a chance to dry out after last week's storms, Mother Nature joined the chat again and said, “Want a round two?!”

Tropical storms are going to bring moisture and heavy rain back in the forecast for El Paso this week, just days after storms flooded streets, damaged roads and caused power outages across the Borderland.

The good news is that once we get through the rain, some pretty perfect fall weather is waiting for us. (Hey, we have to find a silver lining for everything!)

Here We Go Again: Heavy Rain Returns to El Paso This Week

After last week's flooding, drivers should be especially cautious during Monday night's and Tuesday's storms. Areas that experienced flooding last week could become problematic again if heavy rain develops.

But once the storms move out, El Paso is in for a major fall weather glow-up! Here's a closer look at what El Paso can expect this week:

Monday night:

There is a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m, but once we get into the overnight hours that's when things get much wetter. Showers and thunderstorms are expected before midnight, with rain continuing into early Tuesday morning. Rain chances jump to 90%, with overnight temperatures dropping to the mid 60s.

Tuesday

Keep that umbrella nearby because this is when we are expecting most of the action! Tuesday has a 100% chance of rain! *Gasps in Spanish* with showers and thunderstorms expected mainly before 3 p.m. Additional storms could develop later in the afternoon. On top of heavy rainfall, a wind advisory will be in place with gusts of up to 40 mph expected Tuesday night.

Sweater Weather Returns To El Paso This Week

And then comes the weather we've been waiting for! Wednesday through Friday afternoon we will experience fall-like temperatures!

Wednesday

Sunshine returns with a noticeably cooler high of just 74 degrees. It will remain breezy, with wind gusts reaching up to 28 mph.

Thursday

Sunny skies continue with a high near 76 degrees. Thursday night will be mostly clear and cool, with a low around 58.

Friday

Another beautiful fall day is expected with sunshine and a high near 75 degrees. Friday night temperatures could fall to around 56 degrees.

Basically, survive Monday and Tuesday, El Paso. The fall weather we've been asking for is waiting on the other side.
