Over the past 24 years, YWCA’s Women’s Luncheon has raised more than $10 million for YWCA programs in EL Paso, the funds raised have provided access to excellent educational opportunities for all El Paso children, regardless of circumstance. They also provide supportive services for women and their families experiencing homelessness, racial justice and diversity training in the region, workforce development and life skills for El Pasoans trying to improve their lives, affordable housing, support for survivors of family violence and seniors, and more. Although the speaker is always a big draw for attendees, the luncheon is about supporting YWCA programs.
The hit ABC show "Scandal" follows character Olivia Pope, a crisis management expert in Washington. Pope is based on Judy Smith, a former Bush Administration press aide turned real-life crisis management expert. Smith has represented many high-profile people, politicians and celebrities.
Each year, between 1200 and 2000 community members attend the Women’s Luncheon to hear from an inspiring female speaker and learn more about the YWCA’s impact and programs. Anyone interested in attending the luncheon can visit YWCA call 915-519-0000, or email womensluncheon@ywcaelpaso.org.
