Christmas just got a lot colder and Downtown El Paso a lot cooler.

Winterfest is coming December 3 , and when it blows into town the area around San Jacinto Plaza will become a Winter Wonderland with lights, seasonal festivities, and -- get this -- an outdoor ice skating rink!

The rink will be located near the Plaza Theatre. It will cost $8 to skate. Military personnel will get $1 off, and children 5 and under will be allowed on the ice for a reduced price of $5.

“As San Jacinto Plaza once again lights up for [Christmas], we wanted to enhance the downtown visitor’s experience and create a new holiday tradition,” said Bryan Crowe, General Manager of Destination El Paso, which is producing the event.

Winterfest will run through January 8. Skate tickets go on sale November 23, 2016.
