Where to Watch the KLAQ Balloon Launches for Balloon Fest 2013

Are you ready to get up early to watch dozens of hot air balloons launch from El Paso this year? We’ve got all the information on time, dates, and location for you. Remember, it’s FREE!

Join us at the 2013 TFCU launch field to see a variety of hot air balloons take the sky, including Gordo the Monkey balloon, the zebra balloon sponsored by Dick Poe Scion and Hoy Fox Scion, as well as the party panda balloon sponsored by Southwest University.

Directions to the KLAQ Balloon Fest launch field: To get to the launch field take Country Club road all the way toward Santa Teresa, pass the roundabout, right after the roundabout take the right fork onto Westside Drive. Continue on Westside Drive, pass Tennis West continue until you see a small bridge on the left. The YMCA is just within the neighborhood on the other side of the small bridge and is a short walk from parking on Westside Drive. The best parking will be on Westside Drive as access to the neighborhood surrounding the YMCA will be very limited (residents and Balloon crew only).

You are welcome to go onto the TFCU Launch field as the balloons inflate! You can also bring a lawn chair for comfortable viewing, and don’t forget to bring a camera for amazing photos. Delicious Mexican Eatery and Ely’s will have food for sale during the launch. The early morning launch can be a little cool. A light jacket and long sleeve is recommended. Balloonfest T-Shirts, bags, pins, toddler shirts, and infant wear will be on sale at the launch, prices range from $5.00 to $55.00. Look out for the KLAQ and KISS FM tents to find the goodies!
