Muralist and Professor, Dr. Lizbeth De La Cruz Santana, is visiting El Paso, TX and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico as she invites volunteers to help her install a mural under El Punto Negro in Juarez, a 5-10 minute walk from the Santa Fe Bridge.

"As Dr. De La Cruz Santana crosses the border, she and a group of nonprofit advocacy organizations will be carrying 13 mural-style portraits of people with profound stories about life forever changed by deportation. Together, the portraits form El Paso del Norte, a mural that will be installed at the historic Ciudad Juárez bridge area, El Puente Negro. The mural installation will begin at 7 AM. A press conference will accompany the mural unveiling scheduled for 11 AM.

This art installation transcends traditional storytelling by integrating QR codes that link viewers to intensive multimedia narratives. Each subject—whether a deported migrant or someone affected by deportation—uses their own words to share powerful stories of displacement and resilience. These stories cast a stark light on the widespread deportation crisis that has impacted diverse landscapes, both rural and urban, across North, South, and Central America over recent decades."
