So, I may be biased when I say that firefighters are pretty amazing human beings (because my brother-in-law is a fireman. Hi Zo!) But, when I see stories of how local firefighters are going above and beyond to give back to our community, I’m just proven correct!

Recently I wrote about two incidents where El Paso firefighters went above and beyond their call of duty to surprise a young boy with a new pair of roller skates, and how they saved a poor little puppy from being trapped inside of a hot truck.

This time it’s the West Valley Fire Department that’s going beyond their job duties to give back to those in need in our community.

West Valley Fire Department is inviting the community to their annual Angel Fund fundraising event on September 23, 2023.

The annual event is a way for the department to raise funds for people battling diseases. This year the department is raising funds for Michael Xavier, a 20-year-old who was diagnosed with Leukemia.

The event is free and open to the public. It is an all age event and a perfect way to spend the day with family while giving back. Guests will be able to enjoy a car show, food trucks, and vendors.

Volleyball teams are invited to join in on the fun and guests will also be able to enjoy a friendly firefighter challenge during the event.

It all takes place at 510 E. Vinton Road. If you are a local business that is interested in becoming a vendor for this event you can reach out to a committee member for more details:
