UTEP is preparing for Spring Commencement and the C-USA Championship in the same weekend, making parking a challenge for guests.

For those who are planning to attend Spring Commencement at UTEP on Saturday May 16 and / or the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Kidd Field May 14-17, be aware that parking will be at a premium due to both events taking place simultaneously.

Officials at the university have designated certain parking lots for the thousands of Commencement guests and participants who will be part of the celebrations scheduled at 9 a.m. for the College of Liberal Arts, 2 p.m. for the colleges of Education and Business Administration and the School of Nursing, and 7 p.m. for the colleges of Science, Engineering and Health Sciences.

  • Graduation candidates, family and friends may park for free at the P-8, P-9, R-2 and R-5 parking lots. University staff and media may park in the P-10, P-11, P-12, R-1, R-2, R-3 and R-4 lots. ADA parking is located in the R-2 and R-3 lots.
  • Spectators who want to attend the C-USA championships are encouraged to use the P-8, P-9, R-2 and R-5 parking lots. University staff and media may use the P-5, P-9 (southeast portion), and S-5 lots. ADA parking is in the P-9 and S-5 lots.
  • Patrons of either event may use the Glory Road Transfer Center and Parking Garage, 100 E. Glory Road, for $10.

Guests also should know that Miner Metro Shuttles will not be in service on Saturday, May 16, but that the Texas Department of Transportation plans to open Spur 1966 the afternoon of Friday, May 15, 2015. The Spur connects Paisano Drive to Schuster Avenue at the roundabout on the south side of campus.
