Cool. I was planning on crying today, but here I am…. CRYING HAPPY TEARS because an El Paso hospital did something so precious for a local grad that wasn’t going to be able to attend her graduation ceremony! Cue the tears because this moment is straight out of a feel-good movie!

Mountain View High School senior Jocelyn “Jocy” De La Rosa had big plans for graduation this year until life threw a literal curveball.

According to a post shared on Fit Fam El Paso’s Instagram page, Jocy was involved in a serious car crash on Montana Avenue this past Monday that left her with broken ribs and a broken hip. Her dreams of walking across the graduation stage were crushed…. Until they weren’t, all thanks to the incredible staff at The Hospitals of Providence East Campus.

Knowing how much that cap-and-gown moment meant, the THOP team said, “Not on our watch!” and staged a surprise graduation in the hospital hallway on the same day as Mountain View’s official ceremony.

We’re talking diploma, cap, gown, and yes even a proud walk (in crutches) down the hall. Nurses, doctors, and staff clapped and cheered as Jocy got her hard-earned celebration.

It may not have been on a football field or auditorium stage, but Jocy’s hallway graduation was pure magic and proof that even in the toughest moments, kindness wins.

Congrats, grad! And shoutout to the THOP-East crew for reminding us that compassion has no limits or visiting hours. (Can someone bring me some more tissues please? Thanks)
