The El Paso County Coliseum has postponed the upcoming Under The Stars Drive-In Movies due to recent screen damage.

It seems that the recent strong wind gusts damaged some of the screens used during the drive-in movies at the El Paso County Coliseum over this past weekend.

“Under the Stars” Drive-In Movies were initially scheduled for March 19, March 20, March 26, March 27, April 2, and April 3 but now have been rescheduled for this Spring / Summer after repairing the movie screens.

The El Paso County Coliseum will honor current tickets for the rescheduled dates, or if customers prefer, they can request a refund.

El Paso winds are no joke; over the weekend, we experienced winds of over 40 mph sweep through the Sun City, with another high-wind advisory in effect today as well. Accuweather.com issued a High Wind Watch in Effect for into this afternoon through the late evening with wind gusts up to 60 mph.

According to weatherspark.com, the windier part of the year in El Paso lasts for about four and a half months, from February to June, with average wind speeds of more than 9 miles per hour. While the windiest day of the year usually falls in mid-April, with an average hourly wind speed of 11 miles per hour.

With more windy weather on the way, it’s no surprise that the El Paso County Coliseum has postponed this summer, but it’ll be worth the wait when they return with brand new screens.
