After four years, Las Crucens will vote for their next mayor Tuesday.

Three candidates are competing for the Las Cruces mayoral vote this time around. They are

  • Gina Montoya Ortega, a Las Cruces bakery owner
  • Miguel Silva, who is a community college instructor andDistrict 1 city councilor
  • Incumbent Ken Miyagishima, an insurance agency owner who's been mayor since 2007.

Two major issues are on the candidates minds, a city minimum wage hike and the growth of the city. They all have different ideas on how the city should handle business and they are all hopeful for a chance in the Mayoral office. Miyagishima is hoping for another run and hopes the city has seen what he has done for them since 2007.
