The Great Thanksgiving Giveaway In Pictures

Early Saturday morning, volunteers and partners of The Great Khalid Foundation came together for a day of giving in support of El Paso families in need.

As families continue to struggle economically due to the enduring pandemic, The Great Khalid Foundation created The Great Thanksgiving Giveaway initiative to help ease the financial burden of a Thanksgiving meal this year.

The Great Khalid Foundation, alongside many community partners, including FirstLight Federal Credit Union and Mattress Firm, gave away 1000 Thanksgiving meal boxes. These meal boxes included a turkey, all the sides, dessert, and even a gallon of milk, courtesy of Sarah Farms, which provided enough food to feed a family of up to six.

El Pasoans began lining up even before distribution began at 10 a.m., for miles to score a voucher, which ensured receiving a meal box.

Once distribution began, volunteers jumped into action, and so did the Sara Farms cow and Chico the Chihuahua, who were on hand to help load meal boxes into vehicles way into the afternoon.
