Sun Metro Offering Park+Ride Service for UTEP Game This Weekend

Sun Metro once again will be offering their Park+Ride service to get to and from the Sun Bowl stadium for the UTEP game against Florida on Saturday, October 8, 2016.

Six Sun Metro Park+Ride lots will be open so riders can catch a direct route to the game. Park+Ride bus trips are $3 roundtrip and children 5 and under ride free but must be accompanied by an adult.

Exact change for fare box is encouraged. Drivers can provide change cards for bus-use only, and don’t have access to currency. Reduced fares and bus passes will not be accepted on these special routes.

The public is asked to arrive early. The drop-off sites will be around Memorial Gym, located on the north end of the Sun Bowl Stadium. Fans will be picked up at the same location as the drop-off site for each of the routes with return trips beginning at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Parking at all but two Sun Metro facilities is free, except at the Union Plaza Transit Terminal ($7 per vehicle before 9 p.m.; $10 per vehicle after 9 p.m. and during special events) and the Glory Road Transfer Center. Parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The public is reminded that the outside lanes along Oregon Street are bus-only lanes and parking is not allowed or risk being towed.

MISSION VALLEY TRANSFER CENTER - 9065 Alameda Ave.

• Cost: $3 round-trip fare
• Route: 3 Special
• Departure time: 4:30 p.m.

NORTHEAST TRANSIT TERMINAL - 9348 Dyer Dr.

• Parking: Free
• Cost: $3 round-trip fare
• Route: 42 Special (north side of terminal)
• Departure time: 4:30 p.m.

UNION PLAZA TRANSIT TERMINAL - 400 W. San Antonio

• Parking: $7 per vehicle before 9 p.m. ($10 per vehicle after 9 p.m. and during special events)
• Cost: $3 round-trip fare
• Route: 205 Special
• Departure times: 4:30 p.m. & 5:00 p.m.

WESTSIDE TRANSFER CENTER - 7535 Remcon Circle

• Parking: Free
• Cost: $3 round-trip fare
• Route: 18 Special
• Departure times: 4:30 p.m. & 5:00 p.m.

Keep in mind that bus service may be delayed before and after the game due to traffic congestion. Buses will pick up fans at the same location as the drop-off site near the Memorial Gym. No food, drinks or smoking is allowed on the buses, no tailgating is allowed in any of the parking garages and no coolers or umbrellas will be allowed inside the Sun Bowl (see full list of prohibited items at tailgating.utep.edu)
