If you like classic movies like I do, you know how great it is to see one on the big screen. Classic movies were designed to be seen in a movie theater with a big space to fill up with sound and light and movie magic. There is no more magical movie than the Wizard of Oz, and if you haven't seen it on the big screen, now is your chance.

TCM, Turner Classic Movies, the best classic movie channel out there, will be bringing the Wizard of Oz to select theaters around the country. In El Paso, you can see the Judy Garland tour de force at Tinseltown USA El Paso at 11855 Gateway Boulevard West.

I know I don't have to tell you the story of the Wizard of Oz, but if your kids have only seen it on tv, you should make plans to take them to this screening. There is nothing like seeing the black and white of Dorothy's Kansas home give way to the Technicolor of the Land of Oz. That transition was the biggest surprise for moviegoers when the movie was released in 1939. Movies were still in black and white, so see Oz come to life in full color was a real treat.

Check out the Wizard of Oz Sunday, January 27, at 2:00 p.m., and Wednesday, January 30, at 7:00 p.m. Click here for ticket sales and more information.
