Look, I'll be honest. I'm a huge wuss when it comes to scary movies and haunted houses. I don't like being scared by things jumping out at me on the movie screen or in a haunted house. But I do love classic movies and I actually love old school monster movies. They were more about messing with your mind rather than scaring you with blood and guts. The movie monsters back then were also pretty campy no matter how much they were trying to scare you so they're more fun to watch than modern scary movies.

Since we're right inside of October, there are some classic scary movies that will be hitting the big screen throughout the month in the lead up to Halloween. This weekend you can check out a double feature of some OG monsters, Dracula and Frankenstein. The 1931 Bela Lugosi Dracula is the one that set the tone for so many other movies made about the blood sucker. The long black cape, the intense scary demeanor, the widow's peak. It's all Bela Lugosi. Check this guy out.

The second part of the double feature is Boris Karloff as Frankenstein's Monster. You know this movie from the scene where Dr. Frankenstein goes crazy when the Monster comes to life. Campiness at its finest.

You can see both movies Saturday, October 2, at the Cinemark 20 & XD on 11855 Gateway Boulevard West. You can also catch the double feature at the Cinemark Montana located at 12700 Montana Avenue. Both locations will be showing the double feature at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. What a great way to spend Saturday afternoon. An old school monster movie and some movie popcorn. That sounds like a weekend to me. And one that won't scare me too badly, lol.
