The medical and recreational marijuana business is inevitably growing and at a very fast pace.

The New Mexico Department of Health is licensing 12 new marijuana producers, all as a part of their medical marijuana program. The official announcement was made yesterday after a meeting took place and the list was cut from 86 potential licenses for marijuana growers all over the state. Twelve were chosen out of the 86.

Marijuana growing officials took into consideration every qualification for the producers, and that's how 12 were chosen. Now accepting the license under the state's laws and regulations is up to the producer and their agreement to follow them. If all 12 agree, this will bring the state's number of licensed growers to 35.

The New Mexico Department of health did state that the new licenses were issued to finalists in Bernalillo, Chaves, Santa Fe, Taos and Valencia counties.
