Westside traffic is a nightmare. Yes, I said it - it's a real headache to get around that part of town because of a number of road construction projects that have hit the city all at once. Just when you thought you had a handle on all the construction, word comes down about another project.

A meeting will be held at Morehead Middle School, 5625 Confetti Drive, today (Thursday, June 9), from 5 - 7 p.m., to discuss a new interchange for I-10 on El Paso's westside.

The plan is for Mesa Park Drive to connect Mesa with I-10 north of Executive Center. A new overpass is set to be built over the freeway as part of the Go-10! project.

Eastbound traffic that normally exits at Executive would exit at Mesa Park Drive instead, while westbound traffic that once entered the freeway at Executive will drive down a frontage road to Mesa Park Drive and enter I-10 at that point.

As someone who lives in east central El Paso, you can keep the westside! I've gotten marooned on Mesa twice this week and I'm going to do my best to get to my side of town before noon for as long as construction is happening.
