Help Pay It Forward With City Hall’s Gift Giving Tree
The City of El Paso is helping those in our community this holiday season with this year's Gift Giving Tree.
For over 30 years the Gift Giving Tree was conceived through the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program with assistance from the Foster Grandparent Program. Anyone can help by selecting one of the 500 tags that have been placed on the Gift Giving Tree. Each tag represents a gift of what a veteran, child with disabilities, senior citizen, child, and homeless person is requesting this Christmas.
For many of our fellow residents who are in need the simplest and necessary of gifts are requested such as:
- Scarves
- Gloves
- PJ’s
- Belts
- Slippers
- Blankets
- Toys
- Books
Residents can stop by any of the locations and select a tag and then return the gift to the same location with the tag attached for distribution. Each tag will identify who the gift is for and what they are requesting.
This year’s partners include Bienvivir Senior Health Services, El Paso Animal Services, Ysleta Senior Housing, Mission Senior Housing, Reynolds Home, YWCA Transitional Living Center, Department of State Health Services Children with Special Health Care Needs, Opportunity Center/Magoffin SRO, Armed Services YMCA and the Veterans Transitional Living Center.
The Gift Giving Tree will be available to the public through December 6, 2019, at various City of El Paso locations including City Hall located at 300 N. Campbell.
This holiday season you can brighten a fellow community member’s Christmas by helping to pay it forward.
