El Paso’s Youngest Pro Soccer Player, Kenneth Hoban, Honored with His Own Day
El Paso Locomotive FC’s rising star, Kenneth Hoban, just scored another big win—this time off the field. At just 15 years old, Hoban made history as the youngest professional signing in Locomotive FC history, and the City of El Paso celebrated his incredible achievement in a major way.
Surrounded by his family, friends, and Locomotive FC teammates, Hoban was officially honored at City Hall with a proclamation declaring December 17 as "Kenneth Hoban Day."
Mayor Oscar Leeser and District 3 City Council Representative Cassandra Hernandez praised Hoban for showing that El Paso is a place where big dreams can come true.
“This is a huge moment for me,” Hoban said during the ceremony. “I’m truly honored and will never forget this day.”
Born and raised in El Paso, Hoban’s journey is nothing short of inspirational
He climbed the ranks of Locomotive’s Youth Soccer pathway, starting with grassroots programs and moving through Club Soccer, Academy, and USL Academy U-20 teams. At 14, he signed a USL Academy Contract, proving hard work pays off.
Hoban’s skills on the field have been unmatched, helping the U20 team secure a second-place finish in the USL Academy League’s Cactus Division with an impressive 7-2-1 record.
Locomotive Academy Director Ivan Militar called the recognition “a testament to Kenneth’s dedication and the power of our community.”
With his dreams turning into reality, Hoban is proof that the next big sports legend can come straight out of El Paso.
