One of the best things about El Paso is the amazing weather. There is no better place to hike and one of the nicest places to hike is the Franklin Mountains State Park.

Next weekend, you can explore the beautiful Chihuahua desert on a guided hike at the Aztec Caves. The hike is a moderate, 1.5-mile hike ending at the Aztec Caves. Reservations are required. To reserve your spot, call the office at (915) 566-6441.

Everyone will meet at the Aztec Caves trail head in the Tom Mays unit of Franklin Mountains State Park. You'll need to bring water, snacks, hiking boots/shoes, and comfortable clothes. You can also bring binoculars, hiking stick, camera, and a map. The fee for the hike is $8 for adults 13 years old and up; $3 for Texas State Park Pass holders, and $1 for children 12 and under.

To get to the Tom Mays unit of the Franklin Mountains State park:

From Westside on I-10, take exit 6 & travel east towards the mountains for 3.8 miles. Park entrance will be on the left.
