One by one, theater chains across El Paso have reopened, with one exception: Flix Brewhouse.

But that’s about to change.

Those impatiently waiting to sink their teeth into The Duke and wash it down with a cold FLIX Golden Ale now have a date to circle on their calendar. The dine-in movie theater and brewhouse on the city's West Side announced it plans to welcome movie-going fans back Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 5 p.m.

The Round Rock-based cinema chain originally planned to restart operations about a month ago. Flix Brewhouse El Paso had stated on its social media it wanted to align its reopening when new content was available and had set its sight on the Warner Bros. sci-fi thriller “Tenet”.

The date, however, was pushed back due to the delay of the much-hyped Christopher Nolan film, which will now be released at select theatres on Sept. 2. The "Early Access" screening of "Tenet" will be the lone feature on reopening day, with a full slate of films starting Thursday, Sept. 3.

As come-back enticement, in-house brewed beers will be $3 through the entire month of September, and a box of that classic movie theater popcorn will be $5.

As far as COVID safety measures go, face masks are required when not consuming food/drinks during the movie or while seated in the Pub.

They’ve also equipped each auditorium with “cold plasma bipolar ionizers that eliminate a wide range of air borne pathogens.” You can read up on all their safety protocols HERE, or watch this YouTube video from the company.
