One of the fastest-growing discount retail stores in the country continues its expansion in El Paso.

Five Below, which sells a variety of products for $5 or less, is bringing its low prices to the east side. Documents found online confirm the company plans to open at the Fountains at Farah this summer.

This will be the fifth El Paso location. The other Five Below stores across town are the one in the El Paseo Marketplace at 1842 Joe Battle Blvd, in the northeast at 9484 Dyer, in central at Bassett Place by Costco, and in the West Towne Marketplace on N. Desert Blvd on the far west side.

Per the documents, the value retailer will be setting up shop between Ulta Beauty and Rack Room Shoes in the space formerly occupied by Pier 1 Imports, which closed last year.

The home goods and decor retailer had been struggling for years before throwing in the towel, area rugs, and wicker furniture last May and permanently closing all its stores nationwide, including its three El Paso locations.

Five Below will begin renovating its latest location in the coming weeks and hopes to be open for business around mid-June.

For the uninitiated, Five Below focuses on “the newest, coolest stuff’ in clothing, games, candy, beauty accessories, electronics, home goods and toys that appeal mostly to tweens, teens and young adults, which are its primary demographic. Most items sell for under $5, with “extreme value items” priced at $10.
