If you're looking for an outdoor diversion for you and the kids and you don't mind taking a little drive, here's an event to plan on: an afternoon of pumpkin decorating at Ramirez Pecan Farm in Clint.

On Saturday and Sunday, October 10-11, the family-owned, family-run pecan farm will be the place to be for aspiring artists of all ages who want to hand paint and festively decorate the ubiquitous fall gourds.

According to the event post, the farm will be selling pumpkins from a local farmer "at a reasonable price" and paint kits to decorate your pumpkin for a small fee. Fresh baked goods such as pecan cookies and candied pecans will also be available for purchase.

Now, as I'm sure you are painfully aware of, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we do a lot of things and this event has not been spared.

You'll still be able to enjoy a family outing on a nice fall day, but it will be done a bit differently this year. Masks will be required when not in your area, for example, and attendance is by reservation only.
